How much does dementia home care services cost?
If you are over the age of 65, you may be eligible for government-funded home care services. This means that instead of paying for all your services, the Australian government will subsidise the cost of home care for you, through a Home Care Package. This payment is made directly to your provider, who you choose when you receive your Home Care Package. This makes it much more affordable for you to receive the in home care you need.
The amount of support you are funded for depends on the Home Care Package level you are eligible for. This is based on an assessment which determines your needs, and the type of support that will help you live independently.
You will be asked to make a contribution towards your care through three types of fees: a basic daily fee and an income-tested care fee, and any additional fees charged by your care provider. You do not necessarily have to pay all these fees, as it depends on your financial situation and the provider you choose.
