How much does dementia home care services cost?

If you are over the age of 65, you may be eligible for government-funded home care services. This means that instead of paying for all your services, the Australian government will subsidise the cost of home care for you, through a Home Care Package. This payment is made directly to your provider, who you choose when you receive your Home Care Package. This makes it much more affordable for you to receive the in home care you need.

The amount of support you are funded for depends on the Home Care Package level you are eligible for. This is based on an assessment which determines your needs, and the type of support that will help you live independently.

You will be asked to make a contribution towards your care through three types of fees: a basic daily fee and an income-tested care fee, and any additional fees charged by your care provider. You do not necessarily have to pay all  these fees, as it depends on your financial situation and the provider you choose.

To find out more about how to apply for a Home Care Package so you can receive dementia care at home, visit the government’s My Aged Care website. If you would like assistance or English is your second language, give us a call on 1300 792 691 for guidance. We’re happy to help.

Dementia home care services work best when your team has a thorough understanding of dementia, and how to best manage its symptoms. Having a knowledgeable dementia carer can make all the difference in the quality of care you receive. It can also enable you to enjoy life, and live independently at home for as long as possible.

Do you offer respite services?

Respite care is when someone – usually a care professional – takes care of your loved one temporarily, to give you a break from your caring responsibilities. It is a good opportunity for you to attend appointments, care for yourself, meet other responsibilities or have a much needed break.

Dementia Caring provides reliable respite care, when you need it. Our highly experienced carers can step in and provide support for a couple of hours, at a regular time each week, or for a couple of days if you are going on holidays.
